Nothing like a cup of hot chocolate to beat the winter blues. Add some heavy cream for an extra decadent treat.
We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again – milk has got a lot of vitamin D, and that is so good for you when there’s less sun and we’ve got less chances to get it. We weren’t always milkheads, but we’ve found that a lot of the foods we used to shy away from, we just weren’t getting the right quality of beforehand. Kilgus is a great example of that, and one of the best milk producers we’ve found. We can’t say enough about the goat milk from LeClare, either! Here’s Claire’s recipe for the best and easiest hot chocolate ever –
5 Minute Hot Chocolate
- chocolate bar
- Mince a bar of Tuanis chocolate, or your favorite bar.
- Whisk two cups of whole milk (substitute a half cup or so of cream for extra deliciousness), a pinch of sugar, and a pinch of freshly and finely ground coffee (optional), over low to medium heat, and whisking continuously, until it’s about to boil, but isn’t boiling. You’ll see/hear little bubbles starting to form! Best to just keep an eye on it.
- Remove from heat, add chocolate, stir until dissolved.
- Top with marshmallows or whipped cream (why not? Just whip some cream with a little bit of powdered sugar and you’re in business). If you’re feeling fancy, garnish with the ends of your minced chocolate bar. If you don’t have a bar around, use a couple tablespoons of cacao or cocoa and add a little sugar or honey to sweeten it up.
